This is really a record , so long not writing a post.
I never was so busy in my life...I think...feels like that...
A lot of time full house in the cottages... coffee picking season and a lot of birding trips.
Birders and a lot of "new" birders from all over the world, Panama, Holland, USA, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Iran, Canada, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Argentinia, Germany...maybe I forget a country, good promotion for Panama ! and Boquete.
I still did got some chances to go on my own to see birds in different areas and of course I did found some new birding spots.
That is still possible...after more then 18 years living here!!
Today was my first day without any guests here at Tinamou (for 1 day) and no trip for me... so I was up early, I have that inner clock what awakes me early.
I decided to go for the second time to my new birding spot...early , because the weather is very hot during the day now.
It is also incredible dry in the cloud forest, we did have a pretty dry "wet " season.
Kind of worries me also.
The fruit is faster ripe, means we have earlier Quetzal spottings in 1600m to 1800 m.
Nice for the guests who came around Christmas. They did see all the Quetzal, I always send them to the beautiful Pipeline trail (cascada escondido) to see cloud forest and nice birds on a easy way.
I did even hear and see two times end of December begin January three wattled Bell bird, which is early!
And I did see a yellow green Vireo already... or still...
A nice thing is that I did see the Common Potoo 2 times on our farm and "our" tropical screech Owls are very active and they are flying around the houses and cottages.
One was sitting for a while on our balcony.(above)
Okay...were was I...today I did go early...love the early mornings!!!
Volcan Baru...again almost no clouds there (above)
The beatiful sunrise this morning (below)
a paltry Tyrannulet was checking me out...:
Anyway, it was a great morning with nice birds....las trancas, ChiriquÃ, PA Jan 10, 2016 6:15 AM - 9:35 AM Protocol: Traveling 1.0 kilometer(s) 53 species Gray-headed Chachalaca 5 Black Vulture 3 Turkey Vulture 5 White-tipped Dove 2 Squirrel Cuckoo 1 Stripe-throated Hermit 1 Long-billed Starthroat 2 Magenta-throated Woodstar 1 Snowy-bellied Hummingbird 3 Blue-crowned Motmot 1 Green Kingfisher 1 Fiery-billed Aracari 3 Yellow-headed Caracara 1 Brown-throated Parakeet 5 Streak-headed Woodcreeper 1 Pale-breasted Spinetail 1 heard Ochre-bellied Flycatcher 2 Sepia-capped Flycatcher 2 Paltry Tyrannulet 4 Eye-ringed Flatbill 1 Bright-rumped Attila 1 Dusky-capped Flycatcher 2 Tropical Kingbird 1 Lance-tailed Manakin 3 Yellow-throated Vireo 3 Philadelphia Vireo 1 Lesser Greenlet 2 Rufous-browed Peppershrike 1 Gray-breasted Martin 3 Scaly-breasted Wren 1 Rufous-breasted Wren 2 Orange-billed Nightingale-Thrush 2 Clay-colored Thrush 1 Tropical Mockingbird 2 Northern Waterthrush 1 Golden-winged Warbler 1 Black-and-white Warbler 2 Bay-breasted Warbler 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler 1 Rufous-capped Warbler 5 Buff-rumped Warbler 1 Blue-gray Tanager 2 Bay-headed Tanager 2 Red-legged Honeycreeper 3 Blue-black Grassquit 1 Rosy Thrush-Tanager 2 Buff-throated Saltator 3 Orange-billed Sparrow 3 White-naped Brushfinch 2 Summer Tanager 2 Red-crowned Ant-Tanager 5 Eastern Meadowlark 2 Thick-billed Euphonia 3
I don't take a lot of pictures...but I took some that I like to share...
This one is from 2 days ago..always nice to check out an elegant Euphonia..
from yesterday..a common bush Tanager..:
I do like my picture of the Acorn Woodpecker...
and I did see on 4 different trips the ornate Hawk Eagle...this is the adult...(click for better view)
The immature we did see also a lot, he or she get's a little bit more color, I cannot resist to put my picture of "the baby".... he/she is now almost a year old. She / he is still a crying baby begging for food :)
On our farm is the golden olive Woodpecker very active, this picture I took in front of the little Tinamou cottage ...
And then this tropical Mockingbird with a yellow belly...mmmm...or it is a new kind of Mockingbird :) or he was just eating something with yellow juice or so....(click to see better)
Oh and of course our Bat Falcon.. a couple lives for the 3th year in the surroundings of the Wilson bridge in Jaramillo abajo (Boquete) nearby our farm...this one was eating a clay colored Thrush...
I download my lists on the ebird, just check the province Chiriqui and you will find them , together with lists of other birders who download them . I wish more people download the lists, so we can track even more what happens in this province!! Also important to get the area more protected. Chiriqui is a very important area for birds. O.k. it takes some time, but it is important!
