little bit birding in Holland

I did go to Holland for a very short trip to visit my family..quality time with my family and of course nice moments with the Dutch birds.
I did not have a lot of time for the birds, but I did go  a few hours to my favorite spots..landje van Gruyters and the Kennemer Dunes on the bike .
Also in Holland is it molting time and so some confusing and more energy in ID's
Yes yes and a lifer for me in the Dunes...the Firecrest.(Vuurgoudhaan)
I did see before the Goldcrest(Goudhaan), but never the Firecrest, so that was fantastic!

last evening in Holland ...landje van Gruyters:
                                            common Teal (Wintertaling ):
two common Buzzards (Buizerds) and black Crows:
Eurasian Wigeon (Smienten) ..look at all the feathers on
the water:

feathers feathers everywhere..with the orange..northern Shoveler(Slobeend):

A tufted Duck(Kuifeend) in "winter cloths"
a nice spot nearby landje van Gruyters:

a nice birding trip 27th of September 2015 and this morning birding on our farm29th of September 2015.. an early MacGillivray's Warbler

Well this morning it was great weather, the last weeks I am so restless...I hear everytime migrants in our forest..in the meadow... in the coffeefarm I cannot sit or go without my Binoculars..
Yesterday morning I was sitting on our terrace with my breakfast and did see 2 nice Sepia capped Flycatcher. I thought already weeks ago that I did hear them and  see them, but I was not sure.
But now I am sure...for sure we have  Slaty capped Flycatchers on our farm..but the sepia capped is really new for the farm. Yeah!
According the bird book not suppose to be here , we are too high in altitude(1250 m) but maybe it is the weather change...el Nino is stronger then ever and since 2 weeks we can finally talk here in our area about a wet season. Means mornings...nice sunny weather and around 2pm..1pm.. sometimes 11am some rain showers...still a different wet season then normal with less rain..so the sepia capped Flycatchers like that and here they are....

Then this morning a nice male MacGillivray's Warbler... like last time on the farm, he was moving around the horse stable...is it the same one as last time?... I wonder.....

Exciting times. Yesterday a huge amount of black burnian Warblers came through... nice for the birdwatchers, they were beginners and it was nice for them that at the end of the morning they could say...ahhhh that is our friend ...black burnian Warbler...still every Warbler ...you have to check out very well..with the plumage at this moment it can be very confusing...
I think that one "black burnian Warbler " was maybe a black throated green Warbler, immature female...but I was not sure...
Some pictures of yesterday and today:

A nice tropical Pewee this morning on our farm:

Sunday a huge flock of brown throated Parakeets:
a nice handsome blue gray Tanager in our garden:

migrants are coming through the last couple of days...14th of September 2015

This immature black burnian female was very active eating this pine tree empty.
It's a miracle that I have  a picture of her .

And this time is sometimes very confusing...check out this black and white Warbler, his "suit" has nothing to do with his "normal suit": Juvenile..it is amazing on such a young age ..such a big journey
 Miracles on wings

This afternoon this Caterpillar on our house, he was kind of fast and later I could replace him in a tree in the coffee farm.
In the future it will be a beautiful flannel moth...you almost want to touch him, he looks like a small cat. But when you do that, it will be ..like a lot of  caterpillars...very painfull...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalopyge_opercularis

Then ...not a migrant...but along the creek on our farm , the nice buff rumped Warbler..always busy and moving around...finally I have him on a picture:

And then in the forest...Acorns all over... it feels very much like Autumn in Holland.
So much berries  and fruit at this moment, a lot of birds and animals are happy. (me too)
Also finally we did have some heavy rainstorms this week, that was really needed!

the last days... good birds...great weather..first black burnian Warbler today on our farm

I did do some nice hikes..the last couple of days and did see some nice birds..
Yesterday I just went for a short time to the cloud forest and sit on a rock ...a nice mixed flock was surrounding me..what a treat!
And when I walked back to my car a cute yellow faced grassquit was fighting with his image in the car mirror...poor guy , he was really upset.

The migrants are coming...today the first blackburnian Warbler!!on the farm .
And also on our farm the red eyed Vireo. Both in the coffeefarm area..
A few days ago a green snake was passing by while I was doing some ironing. I have in that room a great view on the garden. I heard a lot of birds very upset and there he was , a long 2 meters green Snake was in a hurry...a thick billed Euphonia Male was attacking him...really picking the head of the Snake... crazy...my discovery channel moment of the day!!!
I love to see Snakes, does not happen often..this one is a harmless green Snake...harmless for people , I bet he like to eat birds and other critters.
For the first time a great Kiskadee immature was coming close to our feeder, I took 2 pictures from our Balcony...

He did not do it ..was sitting there and observing..

The gray necked Wood Rails are noisy in the morning as also the buff rumped Warblers...our little creek in front of the little Tinamou cottage http://www.coffeeadventures.net/Little_Tinamou.html is very popular:

It was a great week with finally some good showers! Up to a brand new week...

2th of September 2015 birding morning

I was planning to hike for a few hours with my dog Spot...well it became a little bit more, I really did see the whole trail birds birds birds... So that was a little bit longer morning that I was planned...
The weather was good , same as last Monday, birds and me like that weather...
....I did start with a nice orange bellied Trogon and then it went on and on.
The silver fronted Tapaculo's were noisy , I took a picture...but it is too blurry. But then the eye ringed Flatbill's.. they were fighting , never see that before...this one won, in my eyes...he look like he has a lot of confidence! :
orange bellied Trogon:

just a great scenery:

Autumn in Boquete...:
