beautiful red and an update of our bird list

In Holland we have an expression..beautiful red is not ugly...well it is so through.
This nice white winged Tanager was greetings us while we had our morning coffee.

And today I did make an update of my bird list of the farm, 3 new birds ..Townsend's Warbler
black and white Becard and the Louisiana Waterthrush a few weeks ago.. that makes 178 different spieces of birds through the whole year, not bad at all.

on the farm

It is quiet with the trips, all bird watchers are still at home, waiting for Christmas and then ...Panama. They miss a lot though, because Panama is really cool now with the birds... a lot of berries and other food , lot of migration still!! A lot of birds around us.
In between painting scrubbing wood working in the cottages, making them ready for the very soon coming season, I am out of my bed very early to check the birds on our farm. We have now the little red berries with load of birds in it.
Two new comers on our farm slaty capped Flycatcher and the Louisiana Water thrush.
I never saw so many Oven birds on the farm and out side the farm...why is that?
Today  was "the red berry tree" full with Tennessee Warblers , Philadelphia Vireo's , clay colored Thrushes, white throated Thrushes, red headed Woodpeckers, bay headed Tanagers, silver throated Tanagers. I did count  7 lance tailed Manakins, together in an argument about the berries/territory...OMG they are acting like people . A male violacious Trogon was sitting in the tree, and the two Motmot Friends where wooping along on their branch. A rufous breasted Wren and rufous and white Wren were eating insects from dead leaves.
Two fighting Summer Tanagers, a lonely male American Redstart and 2 Wilson's Warblers and a black and white Warbler and 2 Squirrel Cuckoo's .In the little kreek a nice buff rumped Warbler.
Thick billed Euphonia's also in the berry tree, but also on the feeder...nice picture of them and in front of our house a nice Lineated Woodpecker...

Two days ago I did found a new great birding spot, a lot of birds, but I did come home and did see more birds at our place. Our farm is really more and more very birdy! Our forest is really a forest now, get more and more forest birds...the meadow's are great with the dead trees areas, the flower trees and berry trees, Nance trees with Hummingbird flowers in the fence and parts with areas where we have a lot of seed and wild flowers.( a lot of lesser Goldfinches). The horse stable is fun because everyday when I feed the horses, then a black striped Sparrow is coming and pick food out of the hay. And in the meadow the Cattle Egret is back and they are walking with the Horses.(no Cattle Egrets in the months June Juli August Sept)We did plant some sugarcane with pine apple on the edge of the forest, monkeys like that, the neighbours did provide the cane, because when the Monkeys(white face Cappuccin) eat at our place, they don't eat at the neighbours ( our neighbours live of the cane and other fruits)...at our place it is for the animals. Then of course the shade grown coffee with the underground of all kind of weeds . We have wood walls for the wrens . Finally flowers in the garden , I did put a lot of effort in the garden , it is not fancy and clean , but messy, but we have sooo much birds and insects because of that and I must say, the flowers are doing well.
Love it, day after day!

nice migration time, loads of migration birds are coming through our farm and surroundings..a new bird on the farm today!

It is a great migration time. Here on the farm it's a big bird party for me. 2 Days ago suddenly everywhere the sound of Baltimore Orioles and now also everywhere in our forest are the "silent" Swainson's Thrushes(lot of berries on the farm) ..they don't make a (wiet wiet ) sound like when they go back in April/May.
I never saw so much Townsend's warblers coming through, why is that...always so much why's...
The Philadelphia Vireo's and Tennessee Warblers did arrive in small amounts, they are always later .
My first Wilson's Warbler  that I did see was 14th of October... I keep my eyes open for the Hawks...hope I will see some migration...
Today a black and white Becard on the farm , a new bird on this farm.

grauwe Gors-Corn Bunting

We did go (always a wish from me) to the Island Tiengemeten in southwest of Holland...go there when you are in Holland...you can spend the night in the only hotel (Herberg) on the island.

We did go, that is a must when I am in Holland ...to the Oostvaarders plassen..for bird/nature crazy people a must. We did see  the new beautiful movie about this area (de nieuwe wildernis, the new Wilderness)

We stayed for 8 days in Spaarnwoude, nearby family, also birders paradise, also nearby dunes and coast (b&b woodside lodge for 4 days)
