April 2020 on the farm in Boquete (Panama)

Hello everybody, yes April 2020..."the
weird lock down corona quarantine April 2020" is coming to an end..up
to.. I hope a less weird May 2020, but probably it will be again a weird
month...but maybe a little bit less uncomfortable  feeling...I hope. I
can say that Hans and I are very lucky to live on  the farm and can walk
around and enjoy nature...so I thought I make a short video that maybe
you can be a little bit part of our lives here. Unfortunately no guests
and others can enjoy it for real..so sorry for the people who had to
cancel their vacation... fortunately most of them are planning to come
later....

What is happening in April... as most
of you do see, we still see some migrant birds on the farm, coming
through and eating themselves full on berries and insects. Since a few
weeks we do get some rain and that gives insects..also the first leaf
cutter Ants and army Ants are active and of course with the army Ants we
have even more bird activity around the big swarms. See a few of my
bird lists down below . The migration of the birds to the north is
almost done now... we still get big groups of Swainson's Thrushes, this
morning 2 red eyed Vireos and even still a female blackburnian
Warbler... of course everyday calls  and sightings of eastern Wood Pewee
and western Wood Pewee. Of course I did not go higher (or lower) in the
mountains to check out what happens there, because of the lock down.
Hear from friends who live there that the Quetzales and Bellbirds and
other birds are pretty active...

On the video you will see (in order)
the leaf cutter Ants, a nest with a clay colored Thrush (happening now),
a black striped Sparrow with food  for the immatures (happening now), a
bay headed Tanager with nest material (happening now), a male black
burnian Warbler, a male scarlet Tanager, a male red legged  Honeycreeper
who had a bath after rain shower in the leaves, a Squirrel Cuckoo and a
western Wood Pewee , army Ants and white faced Capuchin Monkeys playing
on the roof of the great Tinamou cottage.

Hope you enjoy the short April 2020 video.

All best to you and stay safe and healthy...

Greetings from Terry

sound of Kinkajous in the night

Hello everybody, last night it was the whole night Kinkajou party on the farm, I counted at least 5. The first calls were new for me in the 21 years that we live here... they were chasing each other, heard the trees going wild...I thought also on that moment..how about the birds who are sleeping...by the way, it is a dark video, so no Kinkajou to see..only to hear.

Greetings from Terry and ...stay safe
