New bird spot 28th,29th of June 2014

This weekend I did explore a new bird spot (around 1800/1900 M), love to do that.
Yesterday alone and today two guest did join me, they did like it...
Yesterday I did start a little bit late..like 9am until 1pm and today it was 7.30am to noon.
A lot of Three wattled Bellbirds (quit a bit of immatures) and a lot of long tailed silky Flycatchers..
It was sunny and in some areas a northern wind(felt  like our Summer) We did see a couple of Howler monkeys today, always fun.

27th of June 2014...back in the blog world...

Suddenly I can download pictures again on my blog...
I did stop with writing my blog , because I could not add picture, I still don't know why not , but now it works again. It is more fun to add pictures to my bird story's then only words.
Anyway , I did have a busy time behind me. I had really great birding trips and did see great birds.
I think I will go through my bird list and pictures  and will mention the highlights of the last hot dry summer.
...there we go.....

Very nice on our farm...2 x a nest of the long billed Starthroat, it was great to follow that .

this season I did see a record amount of different Hummingbirds nest, maybe because it was such a hot and dry summer...
These Hummers are scintillant Hummingbird baby's , took this picture in Bajo Mono Boquete.

Then nearby our farm... a couple Bat Falcons had a nest and baby's in the bridge over the river Caldera.

Also a big bunch of our good old Quetzal, also a good season ...

And the orange bellied Trogon

Some other cloud forest birds..

singing black faced Solitair
 red headed Barbet..hiding
a rufous collared Sparrow
2 Acorn Woodpeckers getting some minerals and calcium in the breeding season

I like this picture that I took on a level of 700meters... a green Honeycreeper:
I leave it with these pictures. From now on , I will go on with my reports on this blog. At this moment the rain starts around 2pm..normally. In the morning sun and  still birds busy with nests...specially the different Thrushes, the Wrens, Saltators. In 2 weeks it will be more quiet with birdsongs then we will see more birds in different clothing. Lot of immatures(already) but also the adults will change feathers and will be more quiet. Ah this nice Crimson collared Tanager that we did see the 18th of January 2014 in los Naranjos (Boquete) was interesting

birding trips 9th,10th 11th 12th of January 2014

2 Half days and 2 whole days of birding with a birder who was just retired, it was a blast to join him in his new life together with the birds..

We had all kind of weather, only the first day on the Quetzal trail some drizzle, we escaped very fast to dryer areas.
Some very nice views!!

We did see birds in the cloud forest , different area's, different elevations...on the Pacific slope (600 m)
Quit a bit of different Herons and Egrets around the Wilson's Bridge in Jaramillo abajo. The roosting flock did have great blue Heron, little blue Herons and Cattle Egrets and green Heron.(day 1)
A nice dusky capped Flycatcher staring at us on the pacific coast 600 meters altitude. (day 2)
A nice rose breasted Grosbeak on day 1 in Boquete, nearby los Naranjos.
A bran colored Flycatcher on Pacific slope 600 meters altitude (day 2)
Ruddy Pigeon was in love, beautiful sound, I will never forget that. Day 2 Pacific slope 600 meters altitude
A nice green Honeycreeper male...on day 2... a whole tree full with all colorful Tanagers and Honeycreepers. Also a big group of shining Honeycreepers in between of the red legged Honeycreepers, bay headed Tanagers, green Honeycreepers, Cherrie's Tanagers, silver throated Tanagers, scarlet thighed Dacnis, golden hooded Tanagers and all kind of Warblers.. it was amazing!
