A day out and some birding in Bocas del Toro province...lifer.. 31th of October 2014

The 31th of October we always go out for a day, together... Hans and I were that day 38 years together. Hans is very patient with me... he is not a birder, but can sit and wait and enjoy birds and nature while he has coffee in his hand...you understand ..I did bring a lot of coffee...

We did go a day driving around in the Bocas del Toro province. Did find a nice new birdspot and did have a lifer there...... a pied Puffbird! It is always fun to go to the (mainland) Bocas del Toro province. I don't have the picture of the Puffbird..I thought I had one , but it is all leaves... but I took this nice little blue Heron nearby the Puffbird spot. Yes I do see them also in Boquete, but nice to see him on the Caribbean side
My new bird spot nearby Chiriqui grande

It is nice to see some shore/river  and other caribbean species of birds and trees and animals.
We did see 2 Otters (neotropical) fishing when it was almost dark on the way back home.( Pacific side) The Otters were in the circle on the picture.. hard to see on the picture. Across a tree with Cattle Egrets.

And of course still a huge Hawk /Vulture migration is going on, even more then when we were in Panama city.. mostly Swainson's Hawks and mostly Turkey Vultures, I did see 2 northern Harriers.
this pictures were taken in Chiriqui grande

( an addicion.. 2th of November ... 2,105,060 migratory raptors above Panama city and surrounding areas. .a record. In 10 years is not counted such a large number.)

Later on ..around the continental divide I did see a broad winged Hawk (he decided to stay for the Summer) and today (1th of Nov) in the cloudforest I did see another broad winged Hawk.
This picture was taken in Miramar. (Bocas del Toro)
