13th of January 2018, a day out..bird of the day.. orange breasted Falcon

Hello all,
Hans and I decided to have a slow day and did go to the Bocas del Toro side, just main land and just to enjoy the nature.
Of course we did visit the Veraguan Mango, she is still at the nest . I think she took a bath, she was all wet and cleaning her feathers. I think she must have babies now, did not see them yet, they are too tiny, but in a week probably there will be two small beaks pointing out of the nest, I will keep you posted..(see former posts) (mostly 16-18 days to hatch)

And so as we moved on...Hans was driving, I was of course staring outside the window...cannot help it...looking for birds. Did see suddenly a Falcon on top, thought first it was  a Bat Falcon. Because I know the Bat Falcon quit well, because he is always nearby our house, have a nest every year...I thought this one was bigger and more orange, also in neck. I did ask Hans, he was going slower already to stop and take a quick picture.
Of course he was a kind of concerned ...because that road to Bocas was quit busy yesterday (Saturday)  and we were not on a good point...please... a quick picture, zoomed in and later cropped... click and yes it was the orange breasted  Falcon... I did see this bird before in Caldera , long time ago...not a bird that is really often seen.
On one of the rivers we had our coffee... watching ringed Kingfishers and neotropic Cormorants and southern Lapwings (picture)
Cool picture that Hans took, a black Phoebe was flying in , ...I love the shade of this Phoebe.(click on picture and you see it better)
We did see along the road in total 4 Sloths, wow..and all very active..hanging upside down, moving around in tops of trees. Of course no pictures...it did happen all the time in a curve of the road.

Moving on to the shore... punta Robalo, I was there a week ago (see former post).
Typical Bocas shore area, love it! We were late..fortunately there were clouds! Good for us, not so hot!

And so after exploring a bit we did go back and had a nice meal, checked out some Boat billed Herons:
and back home. On the way back home some stops.
What is it great to come back home too!!!
Down below some lists .
Greetings from Terry
